MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee man is charged with first-degree intentional homicide and possession of a firearm by a felon after a fatal shooting on Friday, July 25.

According to a criminal complaint, 41-year-old Linwood Craine, also known as Linwood Holcomb, is accused of shooting a man near 6th and Hayes at around 1:30 p.m. Officers found the victim unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the neck.

CBS 58 discovered shortly after the shooting that the victim is a 67-year-old.

Surveillance video reportedly showed a man matching Craine’s description confronting the victim shortly before the shooting. Witnesses told detectives the suspect lived nearby.

Craine was arrested later that day after allegedly entering a stranger’s garage on S. 5th Place. Police recovered a 9mm handgun inside. He reportedly denied involvement but admitted to being at the scene.

Court records show he was previously convicted of felon-in-possession and fleeing an officer in 2017.

Craine faces life imprisonment if convicted of the first-degree intentional homicide charge.
