MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating after they say a man was shot and killed in broad daylight on the city's south side.
Police say the shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. near the 6th and W. Hayes Ave. Friday, July 25.
The victim, a 67-year-old, sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
"I just see the two standing and then gunshots and then the guy falling to the ground," said a neighbor who wants to be anonymous for her safety. She says her home security system captured the shooting.
Neighbors say the shooting in broad daylight was terrifying to witness, as they saw two men talking and then heard a gunshot. Residents say they are uneasy and worried for their safety.
"It scares me because I live around the corner," said a man who heard the gunshots. "You know I got a big bay window. If somebody would have shot toward my area and end up going into my house... people get shot accidentally all the time."
The scene is a block away from a childcare center. Which is near where neighbors say they saw the suspect after the shooting and alerted police.
"It's scary, it's scary," said Jerica Edith, who lives in the area. "You can't trust nobody."
Several neighbors told CBS 58 they saw the suspect and alerted police and saw them take the suspect into custody. CBS 58 reached out to MPD, but it hasn't been confirmed at this time.
MPD says this is an active investigation.
