Whitewater man wins $100,000 on Wisconsin Lottery Holiday Countdown scratcher
MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) – A Whitewater man made the most of the Wisconsin Lottery ticket he received for Christmas. Fittingly, James Stevenson claimed $100,000 from the winning Holiday Countdown game card gifted to him.
On the morning of December 26, Stevenson scratched the ornament play spots on his ticket and matched symbols for the win. The six-figure payout marked the game's final top prize.
The winning Holiday Countdown ticket was sold at Casey's General Store on Main Street in Whitewater. Retailers who sell winning tickets over $599 receive an incentive of 2% of the winning ticket amount up to $100,000.
Stevenson admitted that while he does not play the lottery, he is still in awe of his result. The retiree plans to play, and possibly travel, with his winnings.
Each scratch off costs $15 and the odds of winning the Holiday Countdown $100,000 top prize is 1:180,000.
