Veteran in Sussex gets lawn mowed for free by total stranger

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Waukesha County Korean War veteran got some help with his yard work from a total stranger. 

Three years ago, Rodney Smith Jr. started a non-profit lawn care business in his hometown of Huntsville, Alabama. 

For the second time in three years, he's on a mission to mow the lawns of veterans or their spouses in all 50 states free of charge. 

On Sunday, he cut the lawn of 87-year-old Jack Zubella in Sussex. 

"With me mowing the lawns for the veterans, I'm also trying to encourage others to do more for the veterans. Step up, if you see a veteran pumping his gas or her gas, pay for the gas. If you see them buying groceries, let's do more and appreciate our veterans while they are here," Smith Jr. said.  

Jack's home was severely damaged by a fire in January and he was in a coma for three weeks after the fire. Since then, he's been living with his son. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
