UW Health requiring COVID-19 boosters

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- UW Health will require providers, staff and volunteers to receive a COVID-19 vaccine booster.

The policy goes into effect on May 2.

The health system reports 96% of staff are now vaccinated.

Data shows a booster does reduces the likelihood of hospitalization or death from COVID-19.

UW Health says boosters act as a "reminder" for your immune system to fight off the virus.
