WEST BEND, Wis. (CBS 58) -- There's joy and relief at the Shalom Wildlife Sanctuary in West Bend, as four tiger cubs were born Tuesday, Aug. 19. Mom, Ginger, and the four cubs are reported to be healthy.

CBS 58's Bill Walsh went to the sanctuary for an update, and though we couldn't get a look at the newborn tigers because mom isn't ready to bring them out of the den just yet, the owner of the zoo says the cubs are about 20% bigger in size than Ginger's last litter.

Staff will be keeping a close eye on mom and the cubs because the time right after their birth is the most critical.

"The first couple of days because it's stressful on the mother, there could be some issues with them, she could lay on them accidentally, so there's always the stress that something could go wrong," said David Fechter, owner of Shalom Wildlife Sanctuary.

The zoo has not decided on names, they'll wait to get a sense of the cubs' personalities.

People who want to visit the zoo to see the cubs should wait about three weeks, that's when mom is expected to bring them out of the den.

"Thank you so much for these beautiful gifts to our world," Shalom Wildlife Sanctuary said in a Facebook post.
