Police warn of man impersonating an officer on South Side
Police said someone is impersonating an officer and may be targeting Latinos.
The police report indicates the incident happened Saturday night at 12th and Madison.
The suspect pointed a silver semi automatic handgun and told the man to put his hands up and turn around. He then talked into his shoulder as if he were using a police radio. The imposter proceeded by patting down the victim and removed his wallet, taking around 250 dollars in cash and fled on a black mountain bike.
The victim describes the imposter as being a white man wearing a green pull over hooded sweatshirt with blue jeans. Police said this is an isolated incident but ask the public to be vigilant
“We always tell the public to be aware that you have the right to ask for police id and asked to see the police badges,” said Officer Guadalupe.
Police asked the public to call if you have any information on this case or the imposter.
