Plane carrying former Gov. Scott Walker hits 'a bunch of birds' before takeoff

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Former Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker was aboard a plane that hit "a bunch of birds" before takeoff Tuesday morning, Sept. 15. 

The Southwest flight #2253 was taking off from Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport and headed for Orlando International Airport. 

Walker tweeted about the incident: 

Our plane hit a bunch of big birds just as we were starting to take off. They are sending us back to the gate after checking some hot brakes. Glad we were not in the air. pic.twitter.com/ds1vg74WQU

Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport officials say the plane did not actually take off.
