'No idea it was happening’: Family says more than 10 cars broken into near Fiserv Forum
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- John Cargola and his family were visiting Milwaukee from out-of-state on Tuesday night, July 29, for the Ghost concert at Fiserv Forum.
They parked their cars in a parking lot a couple blocks away from the arena - at the corner of N. 7th St. and W. McKinley Pl.
“It was my wife's first time seeing this band and she was super excited, it was the last thing on our mind,” Cargola said.
When the family got back to the parking lot, they noticed their cars had been broken into, along with others in the same parking lot.
“Every single car, I believe there were 10 to 15, definitely double digits,” Cargola said. “Cars broken into in the same fashion.”
Cargola says he and others in the parking lot called police, emergency and non-emergency lines.
“We waited and waited and we sat on the curb,” Cargola said. “It was almost two hours by the time that we decided, all right, we're going to just go up to district one.”
Cargola says members of the family filed police reports in person.
A Milwaukee Police Department spokesperson says that three calls were made to the address of the parking lot over the last seven days, and that each one was a walk in report at district one.
“I know there were 15 plus calls made to the police alone,” Cargola said. “It's going to be a long time before I'm back in Milwaukee.”
