MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Marquette University kicked off their first day of school Monday, Aug. 25. MU President Kimo Ah Yun, along with head basketball coaches Cara Consuegra and Shaka Smart, were on hand to greet students and hand out breakfast.
CBS 58 spoke to Coach Smart on why events like this are so important to have.
"Our student body is so powerful and positive supporting us at our games," said Smart. "It's important for us to also be present and positive and powerful and stepping up in supporting students in events like today."
Marquette will host its welcome back bash Tuesday at 2 p.m.
This year's undergraduate class has 1,933 students.
Good luck!
