Milwaukee Public School annual 5K run tomorrow

This weekend Milwaukee Public Schools is inviting families to 'run' back to school.

The annual 5K run and mile-and-a-half walk through Washington Park takes place tomorrow rain or shine.

Not only does it get kids excited to go back to school, the event also raises money for MPS programs.

On-site registration starts at 7:30 tomorrow morning at the Wick Playfield on Vilet Street.

The run and walk step off at 9.

And as parents send their kids off to school next week, many kids will be taking the school bus.

CBS 58 tagged along with the Wisconsin State Patrol for a school bus inspection.  The state has dedicated bus inspectors who check each bus every year.

They inspect lights, brakes, and emergency exits. And the once the initial checks are done, state patrol makes sure to follow up.

Once a bus is inspected, the drivers will run practice routes before picking up children early next week.
