MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Wednesday, March 31, is International Transgender Day of Visibility, highlighting contributions of the transgender community and their needs.
According to the Human Rights Campaign, more anti-trans bills have been field this year than all of 2020.
Here in Milwaukee, Mayor Tom Barrett officially recognized Transgender Day of Visibility, which some say is another positive step towards trans equality.
"I feel like it's just one more effort or one more step in the right direction when it comes to unity in our society, because no matter what, we're already visible," said Anna Sellers of The Black Rose Initiative.
The Pentagon announced Wednesday that the Defense Department will be updating its policies on transgender people serving in the military.
The move comes after President Biden issued an executive order to reverse the Trump-era ban.
