RACINE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Lawyers representing 16-year-old Reed Gelinskey are asking for his case to be moved from adult court to juvenile court.
Gelinskey is charged with killing his mother and planning to kill his father.
In court Monday, May 12, his lawyer filed a reverse waiver hearing. That's when a judge determines where a teen defendant would best be served, usually by hearing reports from psychologists, doctors, and other experts.
Gelinskey's attorney also asked the judge to limit the media in the courtroom.
Judge Jon Fredrickson says his baseline is to always allow media in an open, public court.
He says both the state and defense will have to bring him a well-supported argument to limit that.
Gelinskey's reverse waiver hearing is now set for Sept. 15.
