First ever "Asia Fest of Milwaukee" to be held at Veterans Park this weekend

Asia Fest of Milwaukee will be two days festival on Saturday July 11 and Sunday July 12 this year.

The event was featured Thursday on the CBS 58 News at 4:30 p.m.

 Asia Fest of Milwaukee will be held at Milwaukee's lakefront, Veterans Park, 1010 N. Lincoln Memorial Drive, Milwaukee, WI 53202.

It will have multiple stages for many simultaneous cultural performances.

Organizer Rina Modak was especially excited about the opening ceremonies scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday. They will feature lion dances, a Taiko drummer, and middle eastern dances among other performances.

This event is made possible by the collaboration and participation of many diverse ethnic groups including: Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Malaysian, Nepali, Thai and others.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the ALS Association and other selected nonprofit organizations.

There will also be a kids activity area and martial arts instruction, plus wellness tips.

Of course there will be plenty of food to sample. Organizers say 15 different countries will be represented.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids.
