Dump truck rolls over on Highway 20 in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A dump truck crashed and rolled over Southeast of the intersection of Washington and 90th on State Highway 20 around 3:45 p.m. Monday, July 27. 

According to police, the truck had been loaded wtih gravel and upon rolling over, dumped its gravel upon the roadway and goar. The driver was not injured and advised that he entered the intersection as it turned from yellow to red, official say. The driver allgedly activated his air horn, because he believed he could not stop. Officials say vehicles entered the intersection northbound, and to avoid a collision the driver performed an evasive maneuver which caused the truck to roll over. He was able to get out of the truck. 

Police say there were no signs of impairment detected. 

The highway was closed off eastbound for a few hours and was able to reopen. 

The Mount Pleasant Police Department responded to the area as well as the South Shore Fire Department and Sturtevant Police Department. The Racine County Highway Department responded to clean up the gravel. 

This Incident remains under Investigation by the Mount Pleasant Police Department.
