DODGE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- One person is dead and another hurt following a head-on crash in Dodge County early Thursday, Aug. 7. 

Officials say it happened on County Highway A, north of Breezy Point Road in the town of Trenton. 

According to the Dodge County Sheriff's Office, an initial investigation showed a BMW sedan was traveling southbound on County Highway A and crossed into the northbound land, striking a Kia SUV. 

The driver of the BMW, a 46-year-old Portage man, suffered life-threatening injuries and was flown from the scene by a helicopter to Aurora Summit Hospital. 

The driver of the Kia was killed. 

Assisting at the scene were the Beaver Dam Fire Department, Beaver Dam Paramedics, UW-Health Med Flight, Dodge County Emergency Response Team (DCERT), and the Dodge County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Names are being withheld pending family notification, and the crash remains under the investigation of the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Team.
