MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Questions about summer jobs, school concerns and screen-time are being raised by families, according to Judy Cohen of Lakeside Educational Services. She joined us Wednesday, July 9 to answer questions from parents about these topics.
Cohen said parents can help children unhappy in summer jobs by asking specific questions about hours, responsibilities and whether supervisors have been consulted. She advised families with younger students in summer school to get detailed feedback from teachers and share it with principals. Cohen also said children entering fifth grade should practice typing sentences, word lists and names to build skills.
Cohen recommended parents considering grade retention talk with principals, school psychologists and pediatricians. She said sleep schedules should remain steady and added that children should have no more than one hour of screen-time daily.
