Packers welcome rival Seahawks for season opener

The Packers begin their 2017 season at Lambeau Field Sunday afternoon with the NFC rival Seattle Seahawks in town.

Expectations surrounding the Packers are always high as the season starts, but there is extra buzz this season thanks to the team's number of weapons on offense. Free agent signee Martellus Bennett plays his first game at tight end for the Packers, and Ted Thompson drafted several young running backs to complement starter Ty Montgomery.

On defense, the Packers hope for health in the secondary, a position group that proved to be Green Bay's biggest weakness in 2016. The defensive backs didn't struggle in their last meeting with Seattle, though; they picked off Russell Wilson five times in a convincing win over the Seahawks at Lambeau Field last December.

Eddie Lacy, the former Packers running back, draws the start for Seattle Sunday with Thomas Rawls declared inactive. Bryan Bulaga is among Green Bay's inactives for the season opener.
