NOW: Extreme heat warning starts at noon with feels like temps getting into the 100s most of this week
NEXT:

An extreme heat warning goes into effect at noon on Monday and may not end until the end of the week. Officially, the heat warning currently ends at 7 PM on Tuesday, but could be extended if the dangerous heat is expected to continue.

High temperatures on Monday will hover around 90 and get even warmer Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in the low 90s. We are expected to have five days in a row at 90 degrees or warmer.

Even though it's going to be hot this week, we are not expected to break any record highs. This stretch of hot weather comes at the same time that we had an even hotter streak in 1931 where record highs settled around 100.

In addition to the high heat, the dew points (level of moisture in the atmosphere) will stay in the tropical category hanging out in the low 70s. At times, dew points could even get into the mid 70s making it feel fairly miserable.

The combination of the heat and humidity will push feels like temps around 100 for Monday. That's enough to cause heat exhaustion in just 30 minutes or so.

The dangerous heat is expected to continue most of the week and could get even worse Tuesday and Wednesday with feels like temps even as high as 105 both days.

There are no good chances for rain the next few days. Both Monday and Tuesday are looking mostly dry, although some weather models try to bring in a bit of rain Tuesday morning and evening. Wednesday we do have a slight chance for storms in the forecast. Any storms that do form this week could easily be strong to severe with all of the heat and humidity giving any storms fuel to rapidly become strong.
