Shalom Wildlife Sanctuary mourns loss of beloved tiger Ginger
Shalom Wildlife Sanctuary WEST BEND, Wis. (CBS 58) - The Shalom Wildlife Sanctuary is mourning the loss of one of its longtime residents, a mother tiger named Ginger.
According to a social media post from the sanctuary, Ginger died Saturday evening surrounded by her cubs after her condition worsened.
Staff members said they arrived Saturday morning and quickly realized Ginger's health had declined. Following a consultation with a veterinarian, they made the decision to allow Ginger's cubs to join her in the den. One by one, the cubs approached their mother to say goodbye.
The sanctuary said Ginger later found the strength to stand and walk into the grass outside her holding area. Her cubs followed for one final moment together before she laid down and died.
"Ginger is now at peace, playing with Nina, Khan, and Goliath, in a place called Heaven," the sanctuary wrote. "Thank you for all your prayers. God needed her more."
Staff ended the tribute with a heartfelt farewell.
"Rest in Peace [our] pretty girl. [We] will miss you so much."
