Officer injured after police pursuit near Milwaukee's northwest side

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee officer is recovering from a non-fatal injury after a police pursuit led to two arrests near Milwaukee's northwest side. 

Around 12:40 p.m. today, Aug. 27, police attempted to stop a reckless vehicle near 29th and W. Villard, but the driver refused and a pursuit began. It ended after the vehicle became disabled and the occupants fled on foot. 

The driver of the vehicle, 43-year-old man, and his passenger, a 25-year-old woman, were both arrested. 

A 29-year-old male officer sustained an injury while trying to arrest the driver of the vehicle. 

Multiple firearms and suspected illegal narcotics were recovered. 

The injured officer was transported for medical treatment. 

Criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.
