MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Getting unwanted opioids off the streets is the goal of a new program in Milwaukee.
Mayor Barrett and Fire Chief Mark Rohlfing unveiled the plan at Fire Station Two on Thursday.
Anyone with extra, unwanted medicines can stop by a fire station and pick up a pre-addressed postage paid envelope. They can then drop that envelope with the drugs inside any mailbox.
The medicine will then be disposed of properly.
The program is a partnership between Milwaukee Police and Fire Departments, CVS pharmacies, and the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District.
