MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Wisconsin travel writers Tom and Kristi Manus joined us on Tuesday, May 13 to discuss their latest book highlighting off-the-beaten-path road trips across the state. It is appropriately titled, "Historic Wisconsin Roadsides: Towns Off the Beaten Path in the Badger State."
The couple, who previously authored "Secret Wisconsin," created 11 curated driving routes through 80 towns, featuring more than 1,200 handpicked stops, including dining, attractions and lodging.
The new guide blends pop culture and history, with each route providing turn-by-turn directions to simplify planning. According to the authors, the book is designed to help readers explore unfamiliar places, make new memories and view familiar areas from a fresh perspective.
Their next project, Lost Treasures of Wisconsin, will document locations remembered fondly but no longer around.
