Mother cited after allegedly using kids to steal groceries from Glendale Pick 'n Save

GLENDALE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee mother is cited for retail theft after police say she used her three children to try to steal hundreds of dollars' worth of groceries.

Glendale Police say the kids, ages 10 to 13, were seen putting more than $400 in groceries in their cart at the Pick 'n Save on Port Washington Road.

They covered the items with their coats.

Police say their mother approached customer service to distract employees as her children tried to leave the store.

The children told police their mom told them what to steal because they didn't have any food at home.
