MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The executive director of Milwaukee's Hunger Task Force, Sherrie Tussler, was at the White House Wednesday, Sept. 28.
She was invited to speak along with other anti-hunger leaders from across the nation.
While she was there, she discussed the help she received from the federal government and how it helped out here at home.
"So the outside dollars enabled you to buy that, purchase that infrastructure, it was necessary to have that local food distribution," said Tussler. "Without federal help we would not have been able to do that."
In parallel to the conference, the White House is announcing a national strategy that identifies steps the government will take to address the intersections between food, hunger, nutrition and health.
