Milwaukee police pursuit ends in crash with 2 seriously injured

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A pursuit early Tuesday, Aug. 19 ended in a crash that left two people seriously injured, according to Milwaukee police.

Officers reportedly attempted a traffic stop at around 1 a.m. after seeing a reckless vehicle near 24th and Center. The driver fled on I-43 near National, according to police.

The chase ended when the vehicle struck a parked car and a tree near 3rd and Mineral. Police said the 36-year-old driver was arrested after a brief foot pursuit.

A 30-year-old passenger had to be extricated and taken to a hospital with serious injuries, while a 25-year-old passenger was also hospitalized with serious injuries.

Charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
