Milwaukee mom receives 18 months of probation for locking 6 kids in storage unit
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee mom received 18 months of probation for locking her six kids in a storage unit.
On Thursday, March 19, Azyia Zielinski didn't speak while she learned her fate.
Back in September, Zielinski and her partner, Charles Dupriest, were arrested and charged after police found their children in the storage unit.
Zielinski and Dupriest were found sleeping in their car in the storage unit parking lot.
After making a plea deal with prosecutors, Zielinski was charged with two misdemeanors of child neglect.
The judge also ordered Zielinski to attend parenting classes and undergo a mental health evaluation.
"In this case it is truly sad that the conditions that were allowed for these children were found there are six children, the youngest at the time of the incident being only two months old. This is a heartbreaking case for everyone in involved," said Judge Ana Berrios.
Dupriest pleaded not guilty in connection with the case. His sentencing hearing is April 9.
