Brewers prospect Cooper Pratt to make his debut in series with Cleveland Guardians

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Brewers, who drew sellout crowds last weekend for the Phillies series, open a new series against the Cleveland Guardians Tuesday night.

And one of Tuesday's big draws is one of the team's hottest young prospects making his debut.

After signing his contract in April, it was only a matter of time for Cooper Pratt.

Brewers Manager Pat Murphy says the time is now, because he's the shortstop of the future and it's time for him to get comfortable in the big leagues.

Pratt is the man of the hour, with many family members and friends in attendance Tuesday.

It's going to be a day of emotions for the Brewers' fourth-ranked prospect, but Murphy told him to breathe and he's listening to that advice.

"To enjoy it but also like, be ready to win and to compete. And that's what I’m here to do, man," Pratt said. "I'm here to do anything that I can to help this team in any way that I can."

"I said, Coop, if you're looking to take the pressure off, go someplace else, you know, because there's pressure and there's standards here to play winning baseball. So, if you're not ready for that, this is going to be a lost cause," Murphy said. "That's what I told Coop today."
