Milwaukee County Court

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee mother accused of child neglect after police found six children locked in a storage unit, has changed her plea from not guilty to guilty.

Azyia Zielinski is facing two misdemeanor counts of neglecting a child (specified harm did not occur); previous felony charges of neglecting a child were dropped.

In September of 2025, authorities found the children, ages 2 months, 2, 3, 5, 7, and 9, inside a locked storage unit near 27th and Silver Spring.

Zielinski told officers the family had been sleeping in the storage unit for about a month-and-a-half.

The children's father is also facing criminal charges.

Zielinski will be sentenced on March 19.
