Mother of 6 kids found in locked storage unit pleads not guilty, bound over for trial

MCSO/MPD

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee mother charged with child neglect after police found six children locked inside a storage unit pleaded not guilty in court Wednesday, Oct. 22.

Records show a motion to dismiss was denied Wednesday and 27-year-old Azyia Zielinski was bound over for trial.

The charges come after the children, ages 2 months, 2, 3, 5, 7, and 9, were found inside a locked storage unit near 27th and Silver Spring back in September.

According to a criminal complaint, police were sent to the area after receiving a report of a child crying inside a unit.

Zielinski told officers the family had been sleeping in the storage unit for about a month-and-a-half.

The children's father, 33-year-old Charles Dupriest, is also facing charges and is set to appear in court Oct. 23.

Zielinski's next court date is scheduled for Jan. 8.
