Opening weekend is here for Slinger Speedway
(MILWAUKEE) There's just something about a good book that can motivate us to be anything we want and do anything we set our minds to. The idea resonates even deeper with young people when they can see themselves in the characters on the pages.
That's why Nyesha Stone, a local journalist is making sure kids from all backgrounds have access to books written by authors of color. Stone plans to collect 1,000 books written by authors of color to donate to Milwaukee Public Schools students by the start of summer.
On CBS 58 Sunday Morning, Pauleen Le shared her motivation and passion to increase diversity on the bookshelves.
