MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Fire Department Chief Aaron Lipski gave us an update Monday, on the most recent fire at an area U-Haul facility.
The chief said he's not yet 100% sure of the cause, though he is confident it's not suspicious. But he is frustrated.
While the building did have a functional sprinkler system in the area that caught fire, those sprinklers did not go off. Chief Lipski said that put dozens of his officers at great risk.
"If this system was still functioning on the night of this recent fire last week, we wouldn't even be talking about it is how small the whole situation would have remained," Lipski said.
Chief Lipski has encouraged property owners to notify the fire department about whether or not they have sprinklers. That helps firefighters be as prepared as possible when they respond to a fire.
