Milwaukee County Declares Snow Emergency

Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele, in consultation with the Chief Judge, Sheriff’s office, and Director of Transportation and Public Works, declared a snow emergency for Milwaukee County employees beginning at 2:30 PM on Monday because of the hazardous weather conditions.

Pursuant to this declaration, all non-essential departments will be closed for the safety of our employees and the public, and are scheduled to re-open tomorrow.

Between 9am and 2pm, Milwaukee County Sheriff deputies responded to: 20 property damage accidents, one personal injury accident, and 17 Disabled vehicles.

Deputies report that lanes are snow-covered and ramps are slippery.  They are seeing an increase in the number of crashes and spinouts in the past hour.
