Man arrested at Southridge Mall for having fake grenade in his car

GREENDALE -- Greendale police taped off part of Southridge Mall's parking lot after mall security reported finding a grenade in a parked vehicle. The Milwaukee County Bomb Squad determined the grenade was a replica.


Around 9:35 a.m., Southridge Mall security found the grenade when they noticed the car was parked illegally. Police eventually found the owner of the car who told them the grenade was fake. The Milwaukee County Bomb Squad determined the grenade was a fake.


Police arrested the 75-year-old car owner from West Allis, and will refer this case tothe Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office. 


UPDATE: Southridge Mall released a statement saying, \"“In order to maintain a safe shopping environment, Southridge Mall enforces a strict code of conduct which includes prohibiting weapons on property. We’re working closely with the Village of Greendale Police Department as they investigate this incident.\"
