'Jeopardy!' and 'Wheel of Fortune' scrap audiences to prevent spread of coronavirus

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Production sources at "Jeopardy!" and "Wheel of Fortune" says they'll be shooting without live audiences for the time being to avoid the spread of coronavirus.

Show executives say the decision was made "out of an abundance of caution."

Reports say executives felt it was too risky to expose Alex Trebek to large audiences while battling stage four pancreatic cancer with a compromised immune system.

The game shows tapings are attended by many people from out of town, especially an older demographic -- those considered most vulnerable to the virus.
