Dangerous heat continues the rest of the week

NOW: Dangerous heat continues the rest of the week
NEXT:

The heat started on Monday. An Extreme Heat Warning started at Noon for all of southeast Wisconsin and has now been extended until Wednesday at 7 PM. That warning could be extended again to Thursday evening if the heat is expected to continue.

Monday was the hottest day of the year so far with high temps reaching the 90s for almost all of southeast Wisconsin. Sheboygan was the only spot on the map to stay in the 80s, some other lakeside areas in Ozaukee County also stayed a bit cooler. This first 90 of the year came about two weeks later than average for Milwaukee.

Dew points on Monday reached miserable levels in the mid to upper 70s for most communities. That pushed heat index values about ten degrees warmer than the air temperatures with many seeing peak feels like temps between 95-105 degrees on Monday.

Even more heat is expected on Tuesday with high temperatures reaching into the mid 90s. Wednesday could be even hotter reaching the upper half of the 90s before dropping a bit into the low 90s through Friday. Thankfully the heat breaks right in time for the 4th of July with highs dropping into the low 80s.

Tropical to miserable levels of humidity are expected the next few days with peak dew points reaching the mid to the upper 70s.

With all of the heat and humidity for Tuesday, peak heat index values are expected to reach as high as 110 or close to it in many locations. The heat will be dangerous with heat stroke and heat exhaustion possible.

Feels like temperatures will stay in the 100-110 range for Wednesday as well. Thursday might be a touch lower with feels like temps from 95-105.
