Wisconsin marks Kringle Day, celebrating the state's official pastry

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- In case you missed Governor Evers' proclamation, June 30 is Wisconsin Kringle Day, honoring the pastry that traces back to Danish immigrants who settled in the state during the 19th century.

Kringle has since become a Wisconsin staple alongside cheese curds and bratwurst.

Gov. Evers visited O&H Danish Bakery in Mount Pleasant Tuesday to mark the occasion.

"It's Wisconsin. All the things that go into it are from Wisconsin. I can't think of anything in kringle that isn't Wisconsin," Gov. Evers said. 

Evers got to put icing on a kringle, which he joked was probably the worst one ever done at O&H.
