Greendale man accused of attacking officer after reckless driving incident

GREENDALE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 25-year-old Greendale man was taken into custody Sunday, July 12, after allegedly driving the wrong way on Northway, endangering other drivers and attacking a police officer who tried to stop him, according to Greendale police.

Police say an officer saw the man driving at a high rate of speed the wrong way around 3:30 p.m., speeding toward the rear of a marked squad car and swerving toward another occupied car.

When the officer attempted a traffic stop, police say the man got out of his vehicle, ignored commands and attacked the officer. A responding Greenfield officer helped take him into custody after using a Taser.

The Greendale officer suffered minor injuries and was evaluated at the scene. No members of the public were reported to have been injured.

The man faces referred charges including second-degree recklessly endangering safety, battery to a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer, threats to a law enforcement officer and expelling bodily substances at a public safety worker.
