Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez fires campaign manager over finance filing inaccuracies

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) — Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez has fired her campaign manager after discovering what her campaign described as serious mismanagement and inaccuracies in campaign finance filings.

In a statement released Sunday, the Sara Rodriguez for Wisconsin campaign said the dismissal came after Rodriguez learned of "serious mismanagement and inaccuracies in campaign finance filings" prepared by the campaign manager.

"An initial review found that the manager filed inaccurate and incomplete campaign finance reports," the statement said.

The campaign said it plans to contact the Wisconsin Ethics Commission on Monday to correct the filing errors.

"The moment Sara learned of these inaccuracies, she acted swiftly and decisively removed her. The campaign will continue to build support to win in August and beat Tom Tiffany in November," the campaign said.

No additional details were immediately released.
