FOX POINT, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Fox Point public official is facing charges in connection to a deadly motorcycle crash June 25.

According to State Patrol, a motorcycle rider lost control on I-94 near Delafield.

Court documents say the rider crashed into the back of a white SUV, falling from the motorcycle, and was then struck by a black car.

The rider, identified as 29-year-old Colton Jose from Sussex, died at the scene.

On Friday, Fox Point Village Manager Scott Botcher was charged with hit-and-run -- attended vehicle.

State troopers watched video of the crash that reportedly shows Botcher hit Jose and continue driving. Prosecutors also say Botcher called 911 but hung up.

According to a criminal complaint, highway video from the night showed several times when Botcher "exhibited the inability to maintain his lanes."

Court records show Botcher is out of custody on a $1,000 signature bond, with his next hearing in August.

The Fox Point village president released the following statement:

"The Village of Fox Point is learning about allegations involving Village Manager Scott Botcher, and we are aware that Scott has been charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court. It is horribly sad.
Right now, we are focusing on our team at the Village. We have an amazing team, and our Assistant Village Manager, our Department Heads, and our employees are well positioned to ensure Village operations continue uninterrupted. Their attention is on doing the good work for the community, and their dedication and focus are greatly valued during this difficult time.
As to Scott’s situation, the Village is still gathering information and will not rush to any judgment. Nor will the Village do anything that may compromise any law enforcement investigation or criminal process. Scott has served the Village for more than a decade. Scott is a human being, and the Village will treat him with grace and dignity during this difficult time."
