MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A popular coffee shop on Milwaukee's north side is open after thieves broke in overnight and stole money.
The owner of Coffee Makes You Black says someone broke a window and stole a cash register containing about $240.
Surveillance video shows a man threw something into the front door to break it around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday near Hadley and Teutonia. The owner says the suspect was able to sneak in without setting off the alarm.
The suspect can then be seen ripping out the cash register and then walking out.
The owner did not want to go on camera but says he's not surprised it happened in this neighborhood. He says a break-in hasn't happened there since 2007.
"It's unfortunate what happened because we need more businesses here in the black community to keep thriving here, so it's unfortunate that somebody would break into there like that," said LaVonti Sloans, a customer.
If you have any information about the break-in or recognize the suspect in the video, you are asked to call Milwaukee Police.
