13-year-old arrested, accused of bringing altered toy gun to Butler Middle School

BUTLER, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Waukesha police say a 13-year-old student was arrested Friday, after bringing a toy gun to Butler Middle School.
Staff members were alerted by a student around 7:38 a.m., who reported seeing another student with what appeared to be a handgun in a backpack.
Officials immediately located the student and recovered what police say is an altered Orbeez gun that shoots small, water absorbent beads. Police say it was painted to look like a real firearm, and other parts appeared to have been cut off and molded to look real.
The Waukesha Police Department says they're grateful to the student who spoke out and for the quick actions taken by the middle school.
A charge of possession of a dangerous weapon other than a firearm on school premises has been referred to juvenile court for review.
