MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Friday was all about bringing together women behind the badge, to mark Women's History Month.
It's part of a law enforcement symposium, which set up shop at Thrive on King.
The room was filled with department leaders like Sheriff Denita Ball, along with officers and detectives.
They talked about the importance of being women in a male dominated field and developing leadership skills.
Inspector Sheronda Grant with the Milwaukee Police Department organized the event.
"Ada Wright was the first female on the Milwaukee Police Department in 1975. For her to be out on patrol and walking some of the same streets we are walking right now it really means a lot," said Inspector Grant.
MPD says they are actively recruiting more women and hope to have people from all walks of life apply.
