MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- More than two dozen police motorcycles from several Wisconsin departments were loaded onto a semi-truck Thursday, May 7, bound for Washington, D.C. ahead of National Police Week events next week.
Units came from the Milwaukee Police Department, Racine Police, Madison Police, Green Bay Police and other agencies. Wisconsin motor officers will serve as honorary escorts for families of fallen officers during the 38th Annual Candlelight Vigil on Wednesday, May 13.
Two Wisconsin officers will be added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial: Racine County Deputy Sheriff Joshua LaForge and Milwaukee Police Officer Kendall Corder.
"From a smaller village in Southeastern Wisconsin, it's an honor to send a motorcycle and an officer out there to honor those members that have given all," said Chief Brad Schlei of the Village of Lannon Police Department.
He added, "Law enforcement has seen a lot over the years, and those that have scarified everything, we need to honor them."
