MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul and Gov. Tony Evers are joining a lawsuit against the Trump administration over an executive order that would create a federal list of eligible voters and direct the U.S. Postal Service to refuse certain ballots from people not on the list.
Kaul said the president cannot dictate how states run their elections, saying:
"There's no reason to believe that the list they put together will be particularly accurate or that it will have a good system in place for catching errors, it could lead to confusion about how the election is supposed to be administered and this is all happening not long before the 2026 general election process gets underway in Wisconsin."
Evers released a statement calling Wisconsin elections safe, free and secure and said he wants to keep them that way.
