Scattered showers have arrived but there will still be plenty of dry time on Thursday. A few showers have rolled in since Wednesday evening in our southern counties near the Illinois border. A warm front will continue to move north throughout the morning on Thursday brining a chance for showers in southern counties but northern counties probably don't see any rain until Thursday afternoon.
The scattered showers will remain through Thursday night but the big soaking, heavy rain doesn't arrive until Friday. From 9 AM - 5 PM the heaviest and steadiest rain will fall. There may be some dry time by Friday evening through Saturday morning but some pockets of steady rain and downpours will linger. Most of the rain starts to lighten up by Saturday afternoon and evening.
Rain totals haven't changed over the past few days. All of southeast Wisconsin should expect at least an inch of rain with most hometowns ending up between 2-3" of rain. Make sure your gutters are clear of debris and the storm drains on your street are clear of leaves.
In addition to the steady, heavy rain, the wind will also be very strong over the next few days. The breeze kicks in Thursday out of the east gusting to 25 mph. Friday is windy with gusts as high as 35 mph but Saturday looks like the windiest day with gusts to 40 mph. Sunday will also stay windy and then the breeze dies down Sunday night.
