WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) - A Town of Delafield man is being held on a $500,000 cash bond after investigators say he shot his father three times on Father's Day.

His father is expected to recover from his injuries.

Waukesha County Commissioner Chris Bailey said 25-year-old Connor Zastrow showed no remorse after he allegedly shot his father three times.

According to a criminal complaint, Zastrow allegedly told officers he was feeling homicidal and shot his father for trying to take away his gun.

"Victim A had attempted to remove the firearm, recognizing that it was dangerous for the defendant to possess it. The defendant did not want Victim A to take the gun from him and instead fired not one shot, not two shots, but three shots and hit Victim A twice in the abdomen area," said Assistant District Attorney Brooke Schultz.

On Sunday afternoon, the Waukesha County Sheriff's Office was called to a home on McDowell Road in the Town of Delafield.

Investigators say Zastrow shot his father three times after an argument over Zastrow owning multiple firearms.

According to the criminal complaint, Zastrow's father and his girlfriend had gone out to lunch. When they returned home, Zastrow was sitting on the front porch with a gun.

Investigators say Zastrow's father was concerned his son would harm a Hartland police officer who had previously issued him an OWI. According to the complaint, Zastrow told his father that if he had to, he would use his gun on “that officer that gave me the OWI.”

Zastrow's father began talking to him about gun laws and attempted to take the firearm away. Investigators say that is when Zastrow shot him.

Zastrow is charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide and domestic abuse-related charges.

The criminal complaint states that Zastrow's father expressed concerns about his son's mental health and said he had been working to get him help.

During Monday's court appearance, Commissioner Bailey expressed concern over what he described as Zastrow's lack of remorse.

"He seemed somewhat bothered in the criminal complaint by this person trying to take his gun away. I can only imagine what he would’ve done to a person he didn’t have a relationship with if anyone were to threaten him. He would just apparently use violence, use a gun against anyone in the community," said Bailey.

Zastrow is due back in court next month.
