UPDATE: Police Confirm Skateboarder Lost Control and Fell into Westbound Traffic on North Avenue

UPDATE OCTOBER 27:

Wauwatosa Police Department confirmed the victim was riding his skateboard and lost control falling into the westbound lanes of traffic on West North Avenue where he was struck by a SUV that was driving westbound, Monday night. 

The victim was traveling eastbound on the sidewalk on the south side of West North Ave.  In the 7000 block, the victim ended up entering the roadway.  

The driver of the striking vehicle stopped immediately and remained on scene.  The driver is cooperating fully with Wauwatosa Police.  There does not appear to be any wrongdoing on the part of the driver, according to police.

The Wauwatosa Police Department is not releasing the name of the victim or the driver at this time.

Wauwatosa Police were called to 70th and North in Wauwatosa at 6:21 PM on Monday for a report of a child struck by a SUV.

The 11-year-old boy was taken the Children's Hospital with serious injuries. The Medical Examiner's office confirms to CBS 58 the boy was later pronounced dead.

A skateboard was in the road near the scene, but police have not said how the accident happened.

The driver of the SUV stayed on scene and is cooperating with police.

Police have been recreating the scene to determine exactly what happened.
