Miller Park to be renamed 'American Family Field' in 2021
The name change is part of a long-term sponsorship agreement between American Family Insurance and the Brewers, announced one year ago.
The agreement includes American Family having naming rights for the ballpark beginning in 2021 and continuing for 15 years.
The company's chair and executive officer said in a statement Tuesday, that the name is short and simple, with its alliteration of "family" and "field." And the words "American family" capture their brand and reflect the atmosphere they're going for.
CBS 58 spoke to some fans, who are fine with the name, but might have some trouble letting go of Miller Park.
"American. Family. Nothing wrong with those two things, so it's not a bad name, but a lot of people are still going to call it Miller Park," said Kirk Gardner of North Prairie.
"I'm going to be calling it Miller Park probably the rest of my life," Tom Kerwin of Delafield added. "Call me a traditionalist, but I like Miller Park."
There are more announcements to come. The ballpark logo and other branding elements will be announced later this year.
