MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- People across Wisconsin and surrounding states are scrambling after Ruby's Pantry announced it's shutting down all of its 86 distribution sites.
Ruby's Pantry has helped people stretch tight budgets for nearly 24 years.
The non-profit offered no-eligibility food bundles at dozens of sites for a $25 donation.
In a social media post on Tuesday, Ruby's Pantry said, "we have worked to better align community needs with our goal of operating in the most effective and seamless way possible." It goes on to say, "As a result, we have decided to end the operations of Ruby's Pantry effective immediately."
One coordinator at a site in Minnesota says they were having financial problems. But for many families, Ruby's Pantry helped them make ends meet.
Former customers of Ruby's Pantry are being asked to seek out other food shelves in the area.
